After more than 20 years of working in the corporate world (many of which were financial analysis roles in non-financial organizations i.e. technical operations, business operations, product, engineering), Lilian’s true passion is still Finance. She firmly believes that a strong Finance team should not only care about high-level budgets and generating financial statements but should also be responsible for providing financial transparency and be the gatekeeper to all financial information used by the company in order to drive the success of the business.
Thus, no matter which team Lilian represents, she is always advocating for the importance of making business savvy decisions, being fiscally responsible, cost efficiency, building processes around teams and enabling data and process driven business decisions.
Wherever this function may reside in the organization structure of different companies, this is a crucial function that needs to exist and be able to independently provide guidance to executive-level management to guide business decision making.
In order to thrive, this team needs to have accurate, consistent, timely and readily available information at their fingertips. The origination of this data is always from a transactional process be it in finance or business operations.
An astute, visionary data-enabler is needed to build processes and implement the right systems to capture the data that will feed into data lakes and ultimately into data visualization dashboards. Lilian has personally driven many successful projects as a data-enabler and also witnessed the detriment to an organization when there isn’t one.
